Fire crews knock down Edgemont blaze

It’s unclear what caused a fire at an Edgemont home Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters headed to the house around 2:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Edenwold Drive N.W., where they found smoke from the rear door and a basement window.
They were quickly able to knock down the basement flames and fans were used to get all remaining smoke out.
The house did have working smoke alarms and a woman who was inside got out and she suffered no injuries.
The fire department says it’s an important reminder of how working alarms can save lives.
