Councillor concerned about rabbits being released into the wild

A Calgary Councillor is concerned about carrot-munching creatures taking over our city.

Sean Chu has noticed there are a lot of domesticated rabbits hopping around Ward 4.

He assumes they’re being released into the wild and then breeding like, well, bunnies.

Chu says we don’t want to see something happen here like what happened in Canmore a few years ago when the town was overrun.

City staff say the majority are wild jackrabbits, adding domestic rabbits fall under provincial jurisdiction so the issue will be passed to them.
