CTrain careens off track; driver in hospital

A woman was injured when a CTrain left the tracks at the northwest Tuscany LRT station Tuesday morning.

EMS says the driver of the train was briefly trapped and was taken to hospital. She remains in serious, but stable condition.

It’s not yet known what led to the crash, which happened just before 7 a.m., but the train appears to have left the end of the tracks before crashing through a fence.

Calgary Transit’s Ron Collins says there were two passengers on the train at the time, but they were treated on scene by paramedics and released.

Shuttle buses will be used during the afternoon commute between Crowfoot and Tuscany stations. Traffic along Crowchild Trail is moving in both directions, but with major delays.
