“Open house, warm hearts, give from yours” is the key message, as emergency family shelter Inn From the Cold invites Calgarians to check out their facility.
Residents are being invited to tour the organization on Friday and Saturday.
While the families who live here are treated to a nice day out, Inn From the Cold’s Janine Webb says Calgarians are encouraged to come and learn how more than 40 agencies come together to wrap tight around families in need.
“They’re going to look into cubicles and they’re going to have that ‘ah’ moment of realizing that a family of five lives in an area that is about the size of their son or daughter’s bedroom. They’re going to see little shoes and pack and plays and they’re going to relate that back to where a child should be right now as we’re heading into Christmas, because it sure should not be here.”
The shelter’s also taking donations until 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday for the Inn’s wishlist. You can also find more information at innfromthecold.org.
