CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It’s the perfect recipe for a cookbook that appeals to many.
Food Writer and Chef Claire Tansey has released her first major compilation in print.
Tansey says it began when she and her best friend sat down on her living room floor with a couple of big pieces of paper.
“We started writing down the kind of food I cook, the kind of food I want to cook, my ideas and sort of, the more we winnowed down the ideas, we kept coming up with this concept which was, not exactly shortcuts, not exactly lazy cooking, but it was really uncomplicated,” said Tansey.
That’s the name of the cookbook, Uncomplicated.
Tansey says baking is her first love, and you’ll find a chapter devoted to sweet treats.
“Shortcakes in there you can use with any seasonal fruit. Some really yummy cakes. One bowl carrot cake, all made in one bowl. I made it for my sister’s wedding. It can be plenty fabulous if you want to make it that way.”
She also taps into the trend away from meat-centric menus, with a number of vegetarian dishes.
Uncomplicated is available at most major bookstores and online.
