COVID-19 vaccines required for staff, fans at Saddledome, McMahon Stadium

CALGARY – People attending live events at the Saddledome or McMahon Stadium will soon have to be fully vaccinated, says Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC).

The organization says in an email to Flames and Stampeders fans that all eligible people (aged 12 and up) planning to watch concerts, CFL, NHL, or WHL games in those venues will need to have both shots of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, CSEC believes this policy to be essential in delivering a safe environment for our fans and staff as well as an important measure to help our communities and businesses to continue reopening safely,” reads a release from CSEC.

The vaccine mandate would apply to other events at those venues.

“We remain excited to have welcomed fans back to McMahon Stadium through the month of August and are eager to welcome fans to the Scotiabank Saddledome in September.”

The new policy will likely take effect in mid-September and more information will be released at a later date.

Last week, the WHL announced a vaccine mandate for players and staff associated with that league.
