After serving as the councillor in Ward 2 since 2013, Joe Magliocca has lost his seat to Jennifer Wyness.
After coming up short in the 2017 municipal election, Wyness was able to secure her seat on Monday night.
On Oct. 8, RCMP charged Magliocca with fraud under $5,000 and breach of trust after a forensic audit found that Magliocca improperly expensed $5,657 for meals, hotel rooms and hosting events.
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) conducted the audit showing that Magliocca expensed $36,687 as of December 31, 2019. Of this, $20,782 was determined to be in accordance with the policies.

On Friday, Magliocca was represented by a lawyer at his first court date, with his case now being adjourned until Nov. 5.
Wyness, who will now take over for Magliocca in Ward 2, brings lots to the table for the new role and will look to provide “new, young fresh leadership” on city council.
