University of Calgary looking for people 55+ for new study

The University of Calgary is seeking people to participate in a new six-month study about recreation and social connections.

The school says when COVID-19 first hit over 18 months ago, and in-person recreation program closed to curb the virus’ spread, older adults decreased their physical activity level.

The social connections that came along with attending workout classes also decreased, says the U of C’s Faculty of Kinesiology.

Now that those recreation programs are returning to Calgary, researchers are hoping to speak with 2,000 adults over 55 years old to see how their activity levels, social connections, and wellbeing change.

If you volunteer, you’ll be asked to complete an online survey once a month for six months. Questions will ask about your physical, social, and recreational activities, social and psychological outcomes, and demographic information.

If you are interested in participating in the study, you can sign up with the U of C.
