Catastrophic weather has shut down major highways and roads throughout B.C. and has left many people stranded, including a Calgary mother in Chilliwack.
Emily Pogoda was on her way to Vancouver Island with her seven-week-old child to visit her grandmother when she decided to stop at her sister’s place in Chilliwack.
The weather conditions became worse and forced major roadways in and out of Chilliwack to be closed.
Now Emily is trying to find her way out of the city and back to Calgary.

“I’m looking into Cascade Air where they are doing flights out of Chilliwack into Vancouver, but it’s a long waitlist of people trying to get out right now,” she said.
“Everyone at home is trying to help me get home and keeping me up to date on what’s happening.”
The amount of flooding and debris on the road forced the closure of Highway 1 between Abbotsford and Hope.
There is no timeline for when the roads may reopen again.
