Trans Mountain pipeline temporarily shut down for suspicious package investigation

The Trans Mountain Pipeline has been restarted without incident after having been temporarily shut down for several hours Friday after a suspicious package was found along the line’s right-of-way near Edmonton.

In a statement, the company says it made the call to shut it down voluntarily as a precautionary measure.

RCMP said in a release Friday night the package was not an explosive device.

Alberta RCMP continues to investigate.
