‘He really loved people’: Family of Keenan Crane pleading for information about murder

A Calgary family is pleading for the public’s help in finding the killer in a missing person’s case that turned into a murder investigation earlier this year.

Twenty-two-year-old Keenan Crane was last seen on April 11 at around 10 p.m. and his family later reported him missing on April 25.

Police then found remains near the town of Morley on May 15, which was later identified as Crane. They deemed the death “suspicious.”

In a press conference Thursday, Keenan’s brother Braden Crane said, “he really loved people.”

“He had this little dog, a little chihuahua. It was his dog. And they were out camping, and they had no food. And all they had left was salted peanuts. [Keenan] would lick the salt off the peanuts just so he could feed it to his dog. And that was … that just showed me he loved so much,” Braden said.

“He really loved people that were close to him. And I just don’t know who would want to do this to him.”

Braden, who says he may have been the last person to see him and was also the one to report him missing, is asking for help.

“I just really appreciate it if anybody can give us any kind of information that can lead to my brother’s killer.”

Investigators believe Keenan was killed between April 10 and April 12 and was then transported to where his remains were found.

“We are asking for anyone who saw Keenan between Sunday, April 10, and Tuesday, April 12, or may have any information about this incident, no matter how minor it may seem to report it to the police,” said S. Sgt Sean Gregson.
