1 dead, 1 injured in Ranchlands shooting: Calgary police

Calgary Police Service (CPS) is investigating a deadly shooting in the northwest community of Ranchlands early Sunday morning.

Officers say one person was killed, and another was seriously injured.

They say on New Year’s Day, around 3:40 am, they were called for reports of shots fired at 6900 Ranchero Road NW.

When they arrived at the scene, they found two men injured. Shortly after one of them was declared dead, while the other one was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Police add they believe this incident could be targeted.

Officers remained at the scene trying to collect more information from witnesses and CCTV footage.

An autopsy will be scheduled for this week.

The police investigation is still ongoing.
