2 men charged with drug trafficking offences: Lethbridge police

Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says two men have been charged with offences related to drug trafficking.

LPS says this comes after an investigation that started earlier this week when officers suspected two men were involved in drug trafficking activity.

Police say they performed a “targeted” traffic stop on Feb. 9 in the area of Aquitania Blvd. and arrested two suspects.

Police add officers then searched a home where three additional suspects were located and arrested without incident.

According to police, officers also seized cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, narcotic pills, and illegal cannabis, with a combined estimated value of over $20,000.

The LPS says a loaded hand gun, $4,000 in cash, and a Mercedes Benz were also seized.

Officers say their investigation shows the arrested suspects are not residents of Lethbridge, and police believe they were visiting for the purpose of drug trafficking.

Oromena Emmanuel Urefe, a 20-year-old from Surrey, B.C., and Aaron Etchuko Bessong, an 18-year-old from Fort McMurray, have been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, and unlawfully possessing cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Urefe and Bessong have been released from custody, and are scheduled to appear in court on March 3.

Police say the other three suspects were released without any charges, and the investigation is ongoing.
