Calgary man faces charges for allegedly importing $3M of cocaine over border

A Calgary man is facing several charges for allegedly importing, smuggling and trafficking a significant amount of cocaine, RCMP say.

On Nov. 19, Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers discovered and seized 52 kilograms of cocaine after a second round of inspections on a commercial truck trailer at the Coutts border crossing.

The drugs, which have a street value of around $3 million, were packed into blue-wrapped bricks and packed into boxes which were labelled as diapers.

Kamalpreet Singh has been charged with importation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and smuggling into Canada.

The 28-year-old is set to appear in court in Lethbridge on Jan. 2, 2024.
