Calgary Downtown Association giving out gift cards to Bow Valley College students

Hundreds of gift cards are being given out to students at Bow Valley College Monday.

The Calgary Downtown Association is handing out the cards, worth $50 each.

Brett Bergie says because the college is in the core, the idea is to build interest in spending more time downtown.

“For people to come to downtown where there’s just such an array of amenities and public gathering places and downtown experiences, we’re really excited that when they come here, that they make downtown part of their post-secondary experience,” she told CityNews.

The move is part of an effort to help revitalize the core where many businesses have been suffering due to the pandemic and previous economic slowdowns.
