Calgary daycare likely victim of hack, police say, after shocking email sent to parents

An email containing allegations about a Calgary daycare, and insults about children who attend – appears to be the result of a data breach.

A shocking email sent to parents appearing to be from the director of a northeast Calgary daycare is likely bogus, according to police.

Screenshots provided to CityNews show a message sent from a Gmail account making references to hitting children and withholding food from Fueling Brains Academy McKnight campus attendees.

The message, littered with expletives, was signed with the name of the director of the campus.

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) says it was contacted after the academy suspected a data breach.

CPS says the email sent to parents was not sent by Fueling Brains officials.

At this time, police say there isn’t enough evidence to move forward with an investigation, but the service has reached out to the daycare provider to see if they need help.
