Man in 20s dead after rollover crash on Stoney Trail in NE Calgary

Calgary police are investigating a deadly crash that happened late Monday night in the city’s northeast.

A young man is dead after a vehicle rollover in Calgary’s northeast Monday night.

Calgary police say it happened shortly before 10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Stoney Trail beneath the Deerfoot Trail NE overpass.

Police say a 2019 Mercedec-Benz C-43 was heading eastbound on Stoney when the driver failed to navigate a curve in the road. The car left the road and hit a concrete bridge, before rolling and coming to a rest.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but police say speed is being considered a factor.
