A person is recovering in hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Calgary’s southeast Monday night.

A teen boy has life-altering injuries after being hit by a vehicle that fled in Calgary’s southeast Monday night.

Emergency crews were called to 52 Street SE south of 8 Avenue SE for reports of a crash in the southbound lanes around 10:05 p.m.

Calgary police say a 16-year-old boy was crossing 52 Street eastbound in a crosswalk when he was hit by a light-coloured SUV that did not stop.

The boy was rushed to hospital with serious life-altering injuries.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Police say speed is being considered a factor and there is no evidence of impairment.
