20-year-old dead in motorcycle crash on Crowchild Trail in NW Calgary

Calgary Police were called to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon just before 3 o'clock.

A young man is dead after a motorcycle crash in northwest Calgary on Sunday afternoon that shut down a stretch of Crowchild Trail for several hours.

Emergency crews were called to Crowchild Trail NW at Sarcee Trail around 2:50 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

Calgary Police Service (CPS) say oa 20-year-old man was pronounced dead following the collision.

Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to CPS. The investigation is still ongoing.

For several hours, Sarcee Trail was closed in both directions at Crowchild and eastbound Crowchild was closed from Nose Hill Drive NW to Sarcee.

The roads have since reopened.
