A woman was assaulted in a “swarming attack” on Canada Day by a group of youth, Chestermere RCMP say.
Mounties say it happened near John Peake Memorial Park and involved at least two youth.
The accused teens–boys both 13 and 15 years old–face charges of uttering threats and assault.
Meanwhile, RCMP say the woman was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
While two youths are facing charges, Cpl. Troy Savinkoff says witnesses saw upwards of 10 offenders involved.
“It was described as a swarm by one of the witnesses. It was a swarming attack,” he explained.
However, Savinkoff says the RCMP hasn’t been able to verify the number of youth at the scene, but adds they have been described as between 10 and 15 years old.
Police also don’t have a motive, and believe the suspects and victims are not known to each other.
Anyone with information about the incident and the suspects is asked to call Chestermere RCMP at 403-204-8900 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com, or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
