Police have identified a teen boy as the victim of a northeast Calgary homicide and are asking for the public’s help to find out what led to his death.
Officers were called to the area of Abergale Drive and Abbeydale Drive NE in the community of Abbeydale around 1:20 a.m. for reports of a person in medical distress.
When they arrived they found one person dead.
Following an autopsy, the death was confirmed a homicide and the victim has been identified as 16-year-old Carter Spivak-Villeneuve.
“It’s troubling, this is a kid that should be getting his driver’s license and learning to drive,” said CPS acting Staff Sgt. Clark Budd. “Instead, we’re investigating his death.”
No suspect information has been made available, Budd says police are asking for the public’s help to learn the timeline that led up to the incident, including Spivak-Villeneuve’s whereabouts and who he was with.
“We are essentially asking for people to help us timeline him,” he says. “What was he in to? Who was he talking to? Things like that.”
Police are also asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity between midnight and 1:30 a.m. in the area of Abergale Drive NE and Abbeydale Drive NE to reach out to them.
Residents in the neighbourhood are being asked to check their property for anything suspicious, and to share any dashcam or security footage with police.
“Anything we can do to help stitch that timeline together is critical for us,” Budd says.
