An adult and a child are seriously hurt after being hit by a vehicle in Calgary’s northwest on Thursday morning.

Police say it happened at 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of Dalhousie Drive and Dalgleish Road NW.

A witness tells CityNews a car struck two people in the intersection, leaving one of them trapped under the vehicle.

“I heard boom and I saw a car was in the middle of the road. A child was behind the car crying,” he said. “My friend told me there was another body under the car.”

The fire department was able to free both victims, and they were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Dalhousie Drive was closed in both directions between Shaganappi Trail and 53 Street NW. The roads have since reopened.
