Death of elderly woman in SW Calgary ruled homicide

The Calgary Police Homicide Unit is taking over the investigation into the death of a senior woman, who was found dead Thursday morning in her home along the 13000 block of Canterbury Gardens S.W.

Police confirm the death of an elderly woman in southwest Calgary is now being investigated as a homicide.

Officers were called to a home on Canterbury Gardens SW around 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, after a woman in her 80s was found dead inside.

An autopsy conducted on Friday has determined the woman’s death to be a homicide.

Police say the incident is domestic in nature. To protect the privacy of the family, the victim’s name will not be released.

A woman has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
