A midday shoplifting spree in Calgary’s Beltline ended with three arrests after police tracked a getaway vehicle across the city.
Calgary police say the incident began around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, when security staff at a retail store along 17 Avenue SW near 7 Street reported that two men and a woman had grabbed several items of clothing and walked out without paying.
Security captured photos of the trio and immediately forwarded them to officers.
With additional details from store staff, police identified a suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Brentwood Boulevard NW shortly after 1:30 p.m.
Officers arrested all three occupants and seized cocaine, bear spray and a knife from inside the vehicle. The stolen clothing was also recovered and returned to the store.
Police have charged three Calgary residents:
- Brye Robertson, 43 — theft over $5,000
- Taylor Ray Calfchild, 30 — theft over $5,000
- Tony Donovan Crane, 24 — theft over $5,000
All three are scheduled to appear in court in March.
