After a man served a sentence for convictions that include assault and arson, Calgary police are warning the public of his release on Friday.
Police say 45-year-old Collin Dennis Ayorech was released on Feb. 6, and he had previous convictions for aggravated assault, robbery, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. They add that most of his crimes were committed in Calgary.
He recently served a sentence for aggravated assault, arson, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking/recognizance.
Meanwhile, Ayorech is being monitored by the Calgary Police Service High-Risk Offender Program (HROP), which monitors offenders who have been released by the courts into Calgary and “who have been determined to have a high-risk to reoffend in a violent or sexual manner.”
Investigators say that after “careful deliberation and consideration,” information is being released because it is in the public interest to inform the members of the community about Ayorech.
Ayorech is about 5’11” tall, around 200 pounds, is bald, and has brown eyes.
Officers add that members of the public are advised that the process is to enable Calgarians to take suitable precautionary measures, not to embark on “any form of vigilante action.”
“With our law enforcement partners, officers in HROP assess an offender’s risk factors and use a number of tactics to ensure they are abiding by court-imposed conditions to manage their risk to the community,” a police release reads.
“Court-imposed conditions can include the use of electronic monitoring, prohibitions on weapons, drugs and alcohol, mandated counselling and treatment, curfews and other relevant restrictions.”
