Three homes damaged, 10 evacuate after fire in Calgary’s Citadel

High winds made it difficult for the Calgary fire department to knock down a house fire mid-Sunday, with crews thankful damage didn’t spread further.

Fire crews say 10 people were evacuated after a blaze ravaged three homes in the northwest Calgary Citadel neighbourhood Sunday.

One home was severely damaged while the roof of a neighbouring home was also gutted by the fire.

Two other homes had smoke, fire, and water damage.

No injuries were reported.

Battalion chief Gerry Bishop says early investigations reveal the blaze originated at the front of one of the home’s garages and spread from there.

The investigation is ongoing.
