Child riding scooter seriously hurt after being struck by truck

A child is in hospital with serious injuries after they were struck by a truck while riding a scooter on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the community of Taradale in northeast Calgary around 4:45 p.m. for reports of someone being struck by a vehicle.

Calgary police say a child who was riding a scooter was hit by a truck.

The child was conscious and transported to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in serious condition.

The intersection of Taracove Road and Taravista Drive NE is shut down for the investigation.
