Pedestrian critically hurt after being pinned under CTrain

One person is in critical condition after being pinned underneath a CTrain in downtown Calgary on Thursday.

Calgary police say the collision happened at 7 Avenue and Centre Street S around 5:30 p.m.

Police say the pedestrian crossed the tracks against the traffic lights and was struck by an oncoming train, becoming pinned underneath.

Emergency crews were able to free the victim. They were rushed to hospital in life‑threatening condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

There is currently no CTrain service along 7 Avenue. Shuttle buses are running in place of trains.
