Aggressive coyotes prompt warning in parts of Banff

A warning has been issued to people walking, biking or spending time with pets in parts of Banff after recent reports of aggressive coyotes.

Parks Canada issued an advisory on Saturday for Bow Falls Trail, Glen Avenue, Glen Crescent, and Spray Avenue, stating that coyotes in these areas have been active and aggressive.

The agency says people should be prepared to encounter a coyote at any time and should stay alert, watch for wildlife and give coyotes plenty of space. Pets must be kept on a leash and under control.

Anyone who sees a coyote or witnesses aggressive behaviour is asked to report it immediately to Banff Dispatch at 403‑762‑1470.

The advisory will remain in place until further notice.
