Manslaughter charge laid after man found dead in Calgary park

Charges have been laid against a man in connection to the suspicious death at Calgary's Tomkins Park.

A man has been charged after another man was found dead in a downtown Calgary park over the weekend.

Police were called to Tomkins Park near 17 Avenue SW and 8 Street, around 5:05 p.m. on Saturday for reports of an assault.

When officers arrived they found a man in medical distress. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy completed Monday has identified the victim as 67-year-old Howard Gordon Hunter.

Another man was taken into custody at the scene.

Police have now charged Danny James Turkitch, 68, with manslaughter. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
