Man hospitalized after being struck by CTrain at Westbrook station

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after he fell on LRT tracks before being struck by an incoming CTrain in southwest Calgary.

It happened around 6 p.m., when Calgary police say a man was walking on the east platform of the Westbrook LRT Station and fell onto the tracks.

An inbound CTrain then entered the station, striking the man.

Officers say he suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he remains.

Investigators are investigating impairment on the part of the victim as a factor. The CTrain’s speed is not being considered.
