Man charged after apparent random attack in Tim Hortons bathroom

Calgary police say charges have been laid against the suspect in an assault that left a man with injuries to his head last month.

Police say a suspect has turned himself in after a seemingly random attack in a Tim Hortons bathroom last week.

Calgary police say they were called to the Tim Hortons near Sunridge Mall around 8:30 a.m. on June 23 for reports of an assault.

It is alleged a man was using the washroom in the restaurant when another man came in and attacked him without any clear reason. The victim suffered injuries to his head.

The suspect left the washroom right away and ran out of the restaurant, getting into a white vehicle before driving off.

Investigators put out security photos of the man in hopes someone would be able to identify him. The man turned himself in on Wednesday, according to police.

Andrew John Delaney, 35, has been charged with assault and will appear in court on Sept. 22.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call police at 403‑266‑1234. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
