Driver caught at nearly 200 km/h while watching video on phone

A Calgary driver is facing stiff penalties after getting caught speeding southbound on Stoney Trail near Glenmore Trail last week.

A driver is facing multiple penalties after being pulled over at nearly double the speed limit on a Calgary highway.

Calgary police say they caught the driver on Sunday travelling 191 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on southbound Stoney Trail near Glenmore Trail SE.

The man was watching a video on his phone while driving, according to police.

He also failed a mandatory roadside alcohol test.

The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

He also received a $300 fine for having a visible video display while driving. He is expected to face additional fines after police issued a court summons.
