Search for Parker: CPS give inside look at operations, residents speak about ongoing effort

Calgary police continue to update residents on the search for 11-year-old Parker Wells, issuing videos of certain aspects of the search operation Thursday.
“Every available tool is being used to search for Parker,” CPS said in a statement as the search for Parker continues into the eighth day.

In one of two videos, police break down the role of their drones, technically labelled as Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
“(They’re) helping search teams cover large areas by scanning waterways & riverbanks for anything out of the ordinary that may need a closer look. Information gathered from the air is shared with ground searchers, helping focus resources where they are most needed.”
Every available tool is being used to search for Parker.

As well, support for the role of the Mounted Patrol team in the search for Parker is said by police to be significant, and the team’s involvement is detailed in a social media post:
“Working alongside search teams, mounted patrol officers and their horses are helping to search areas that can be difficult to access on foot or by bike.”
Meanwhile, residents participating in the search spoke with CityNews about their involvement.
One woman named Hailey is helping along with several family members.
She said, “He’s a little boy who probably misses his family and wants to go back home and he’s probably scared.”
Also joining in the search is Hailey’s 11-year-old daughter, Geo. She said participating in the search is more important to her than youthful activities like playing with friends.
“I don’t care about friends. I care about how Parker’s feeling and I care about how his family’s feeling.”
