Calgary police seek construction contractor accused of fraud, money laundering

Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man wanted on warrants for fraud and money laundering tied to construction‑related scams.
Calgary police say the investigation began on Dec. 6, 2024, when a homeowner connected with a man through Facebook Marketplace about building a sauna.
After several quotes, both sides agreed on a price of $2,730, with half paid upfront. The homeowner then sent a deposit two days later.
The man later visited the home to take measurements, but then in January 2025 he told the homeowner he could no longer complete the job and promised a full refund.
It is alleged no refund was issued, and the victim was unable to reach him again.
Police say a second victim came forward after a similar experience on May 29, 2025. After responding to a Facebook ad for construction services, the victim agreed to pay a $3,412 deposit for a sitting area project.
Materials were dropped off at the home, but the man repeatedly delayed the work and refused to issue a refund, allegedly becoming aggressive in text messages.
Investigators have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Mitchel Landry, who also goes by Mitch Ryan.
Police say Landry operates under the names Silverado Lawn and Snow and The Deck Experts, neither of which are registered in Alberta.
Landry is wanted on warrants for fraud under $5,000 and money laundering.
He is described as 6′ tall, about 185 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is believed to be driving a 2008 Ford F‑150 with Alberta licence plate CWH4036.
Police believe there may be additional victims.
