Suspect arrested after attempted armed robbery, shelter‑in‑place in NW Calgary

A suspect is in custody following an attempted armed robbery that led to a shelter‑in‑place for some northwest Calgary residents on Wednesday.

Calgary police say officers were called around 9:45 a.m. to a business near 4 Street and Northmount Drive NW for reports of an attempted robbery.

The situation was eventually contained to a home on Hunterburn Hill NW in the community of Huntington Hills. Residents in the immediate area were asked to shelter‑in‑place around 11:40 a.m.

Police provided an update an hour later saying a suspect was in custody and the shelter‑in‑place order was lifted.

No injuries have been reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
