An 80-year-old woman was sent to hospital with serious...life-altering injuries after she was hit by a Calgary Transit bus Friday morning.

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a Calgary Transit bus on Friday morning.

Calgary police say the crash happened around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Beddington Boulevard and Centre Street N.

Police say the woman was on the bus when she got out at a stop and fell down. She was struck by the same bus as it left the stop.

The woman was rushed to hospital with serious and life-altering injuries. No other injuries have been reported.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Police do not believe speed or impairment were factors.
