Alberta’s government says it has launched a $4-million advertising campaign urging citizens vote to stay in Canada in next month’s referendum.
The campaign will advertise online, on TV and radio, and on billboards.
The premier’s office says it’s important Albertans understand what’s at stake when they vote on 10 referendum questions on Oct. 19.
Nine of the questions focus on immigration and constitutional issues.
The main public focus is on the last question, which asks whether Alberta should remain in Canada or hold a second, binding referendum on separation.
Premier Danielle Smith has said she supports keeping the country together and that it’s time to put the issue to rest once and for all in Alberta.
