Investigators are looking for suspects after a teen was seriously hurt in a shooting in northwest Calgary on Thursday night.
Calgary police say officers were called to the community of Carrington around 10 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire.
At least two vehicles were involved in the shooting, which continued until one of the vehicles crashed near 144 Avenue NW and Carrington Boulevard NW.
When officers arrived, they found a 19‑year‑old man in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses told police the suspects fled in an unknown vehicle.
Residents in the area reported hearing at least eight shots, then honking and sirens. One social media post described the neighbourhood as locked down, while another resident said a bullet had lodged in the apartment below them and that officers had checked their home for damage.
Police have not confirmed those details.
Police believe the shooting was targeted, but warn that such incidents still pose risks to bystanders. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
