WATCH: Truck bursts into flames, explodes in SE Calgary

A truck burst into flames in southeast Calgary on Tuesday afternoon, sending thick smoke into the air and triggering a hazmat response.
Fire crews were called just before noon to 17 Avenue and 42 Street SE, where a vehicle was already fully engulfed.
Video captured by a bystander shows the truck burning intensely before an explosion.
Calgary Fire Department (CFD) spokesperson Alex Kwan said crews arrived to find the truck fully involved, then stretched hose lines to knock down the flames. A hazmat team was dispatched to monitor runoff from firefighting efforts.
Kwan said firefighters searched the vehicle after the fire was extinguished and found no one inside.
“When we arrived, I don’t believe we found a driver or anyone in the vehicle,” he said.
No injuries have been reported, and investigators have not yet determined what caused the fire.
