Police are asking for help identifying three youths as young as 10 years old, who are suspected of causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage during break-ins at vacant homes in northeast Calgary.
Calgary police say the suspects broke into three unoccupied homes listed for sale in the Whitehorn community on Saturday and Sunday.
The group allegedly vandalized the homes by smashing windows, toilets, sinks, walls and doors. In one residence, water was left running, leading to significant water damage and adding to the overall cost of repairs.
Investigators believe the break-ins caused more than $300,000 in damage.
The three suspects are believed to be between the ages of 10 and 16 years old. They were seen in the area riding a scooter, an electric scooter, and a bicycle.
Police have not released clear images of the suspects because of restrictions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, although blurred photographs have been made available as they work to identify those involved.
Anyone with information about the incidents or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers.
