Calgarians ready for Super Bowl

Calgarians got into the hype for Super Bowl 48 Sunday as local sports bars became NFL hotspots.
At Schanks South on Macleod Trail, a mixed crowd of entertainment seekers and more hard core fans shared beers in front of the big screens.
Many people setting into the pregame show told 660News they were into the game for more reasons than just a love of football.
Tiffany, sitting with some friends for the game, was to be honest about her motives.
“I’ve come to watch the Super Bowl to pick up men,” she said.
Bruce is a Seahawks fan who’s looked forward to critiquing the halftime show.
“Bruno Mars is fantastic, he’s a great singer, above all he’s probably the best singer around right now, but it’s in New York and you don’t get Jay Z?”
Other Mars fans said the halftime show is a bit of redemption for them as the singers last tour in Calgary had to be cancelled because of June’s flood.
Many patrons also noted they would love to get in on some of the perks of watching the game stateside like the highly produced commercials and being able to place a bet.
Several local sports retailers report seeing about 20 to 30 customers a day for the last couple weeks looking for NFL merchandise.
As for who Calgarians cheered for the most, owners also report Seahawks jerseys we in higher demand.
