Despite a great start for Canada at the Sochi Olympics, with the medal count now sitting at 16 on day eleven of the Winter Games, many are wondering whether we really have a chance at matching what our athletes accomplished in Vancouver.
660News spoke to some Calgarians to gauge their Olympic optimism.
Many said, ‘it’s not over, until it’s over’; no matter what they are still in Team Canada’s corner.
Wearing a Team Canada toque, Robert has been watching the games intently, and said he’s proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish.
“No matter how many medals we win, you know they are going out there, and they’re giving a hundred per cent,” he said. “Sometimes there’s hard luck; we’ve had a few slips and trips in some of the speedskating events.”
He added, he’s still excited to see the curling matches and the hockey games, and really isn’t worried about the numbers.
Paul is also not counting Team Canada out yet.
“Competition is good all around,” he said. “All they can do is their best.”
The grand total medal haul in Vancouver was 26, with 14 gold.
