Humphries and Moyse named Canada’s flag bearers

Bobsledders Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse have been named Canada’s flag-bearers for the closing ceremonies at the Sochi Olympics.
Humphries, from Calgary, with brakeman Heather Moyse of Summerside, P.E.I., displayed steely nerves to pilot her sled to a second consecutive Olympic title.
The two Olympians were among a number of worthy choices and a field of athletes that made the country proud in many ways during the games.
There was a movement to have Gilmore Junio named flag bearer after he gave up his spot to speedskater Denny Morrison who went on to win silver in the men’s long-track.
Canada’s curling skip Jennifer Jones was also mentioned as a possibility.
“Anyone of us could do that honour and do a tremendous job,” said Jones. “Obviously it’s a huge honour to carry the flag.
Jones lead the women’s team to a gold medal after an undefeated Olympic tournament.
Another option was Marie-Philip Poulin who scored both the tying and winning goals in the women’s hockey final against the United States.
