If you’re waking up groggy after the weekend, a sleep expert is recommending a couple of tricks to make you a super sleeper.
The first is to set your alarm in multiples of 90 minutes in order to sync up with your normal REM sleep cycle; the average person needs six or seven and a half hours of sleep in order to feel refreshed.
The second trick is the power of napping; putting your head down for as little as six minutes each day enhances memory, boosts productivity and increases reaction time.
Getting enough sleep could also save lives; sleep deprivation has been linked to disasters like the Chernobyl meltdown, the Exxon Valdez oil spill and the Challenger Space Shuttle explosion.
NASA research reveals pilots who took a 25 minute catnap while the co-pilot took the helm were one-third more alert than those who didn’t shut their eyes at all.
