Anders planning legal action against Liepert

A federal Conservative nomination battle in southwest Calgary is headed to the courts.

Incumbent MP Rob Anders, hoping to be nominated for the new riding of Calgary-Signal Hill, plans to sue his opponent for defamation.

Ron Liepert claimed earlier this week that dozens of Conservatives in the riding had been harassed by phone calls from Anders’ people, claiming to represent Liepert.

Anders claims Liepert is just trying to dirty his name, because he has clear support from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Anders plans to address the media at 9a.m. Thursday morning.
