Escape: Brisbane

When thinking about Australia; Sydney, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef are usually first to mind, but how about Brisbane?

Brisbanite Genevieve Hassall known for her travel blog The Wanderbug, tells me if you want a great panoramic view of the city, Mount Coot-Tha is for you.

“Has a great lookout there, which has absolutely stunning views of Brisbane at night, or if you go up earlier at around sunset you can eat at a restraurant there for a discounted price, for a set menu,” said Hassall.

Hassall says the City Cat is a great way to get around.

“It’s our ferry and it darts from one side of the river to the other all the way around and it gives you great views of the city.”

If you love food, stop at the Eat Street Market in Hamilton, on Friday and Saturday night and Sunday during the day.

“It’s a huge market full of street food from almost every country in the world and the quality of the food is amazing. It’s really busy and is popular with people of all ages.”
