Drunk driving film targets teens

A thought-provoking movie about drinking and driving premiered in Calgary Tuesday.
It may only be 40 minutes long but ‘Damages’ highlights a lifetime of tragedy for those affected by impaired driving.
It’s about a teen named Jesse and his choice to drink and drive.
MADD Canada says high school students are their target audience and that’s why they chose to introduce the film at a Calgary highschool.
Choking back tears, the national president of MADD Canada, Denise Dubyk, told students she hoped they would learn something.
She shared her own story of how she lost someone close and says no one needs to relive that pain.
Dubyk says the message of the film is a graphic and stark but one that needs to get across.
“This crime hits everyone. It doesn’t pick and choose its victims. It can be from any age that is impacted by this, who can be lost or injured,” says Dubyk.
She says it is the kind of tragedy that is preventable.
The film will be making its way through highschools across the country.
