Lots of leftovers expected

Refrigerators will be packed over the holidays for big feasts, but a lot of that food is making its way to the garbage.

An agri-food think tank says 40 percent of Canadian food is tossed yearly and during the holidays that number goes up.

The Calgary Sun reports one environment consultant says the increase is around 25 percent.

It’s not just a waste of money either, thrown-out food is one of the most harmful greenhouse gases, 25 times more harmful than carbon.
