MADD Canada reacts to ‘party bus’

A member of Madd Canada’s Calgary chapter hopes a provincial probe into so-called “party buses” that carry revellers from bar-to-bar, will include consideration of how people get home when their pub-crawl comes to an end.

Wayne Kaufield believes that in theory, party buses could keep drunk drivers off the road, but he believes dropping partiers off at the end of the night, doesn’t ensure they’re not driving home, impaired.

The province will meet with city representatives from Calgary and Edmonton on March 19th, to discusss posible bylaws and restrictions on operators of party buses.
